Impressions and comments on the 4th edition of the Forum

Following the two-day long fourth edition of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, Mr. Ionel Nițu, the President of New Strategy Center considers that ”after organizing this event in the very special conditions of a pandemic, with social distancing measures, the distancing was only physical between the speakers. Different visions on the developments related to security in the two regions, the Black Sea and the Balkans, came closer together”.

As Ambassador Lazăr Comănescu, Member of the Scientific Council of New Strategy Center noted, ”Although we are talking about a young organization, the Forum itself also being young, only on its fourth edition – enough convincing arguments have accumulated, so that one can say that Black Sea Security Forum has earned its role as one of the most important events debating issues of security not only in the Black Sea and Balkans regions but about security on a global scale.”

We appreciate that “Think tanking is important as we are reinventing or reshaping a global order which has been very much `under attack`”, as Mr. Emmanuel Dupuy, the President of Institut Prospective et Sécurité en Europe (IPSE) noted.

Mr. Iulian Fota, Member of the Scientific Council of New Strategy Center highlights ”the fact this conference has become the most important annual event organized by a think tank, a non-governmental organization, in Romania.”

Mr. Dan Dungaciu and Mr. Vlad Nistor, Members of the Scientific Council of New Strategy Center observe ”the fact that, despite the unfavorable conditions, an organization such as New Strategy Center takes on such a project and manages to take it further, is the first point that needs to be highlighted. Beyond the content of this meeting, the fact that it has taken place is very important.”

Mr. Sorin Cîmpeanu, the Rector of the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine remarks that “Being the only forum organized during this period – not only in Romania, but across the entire region, it has managed to create bridges between actors from the security domain.”
